Duties Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on marine diesel engines, propulsion systems, generators and associated mechanical components using hand tools and power tools. Diagnose electrical issues within ship electrical systems using schematics, ohmmeters, multimeters, and other diagnostic equipment. Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and assembly instructions to accurately troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical systems. Conduct rigging operations and water transportation equipment maintenance to ensure safe vessel operation. Utilize precision measuring instruments such as calipers and other tools for accurate repairs and assembly tasks. Follow safety protocols by properly using personal protective equipment (PPE) during all maintenance activities. Assist with the installation of new marine electrical systems, including soldering connections and sheet metal work as needed. Support engineering troubleshooting efforts related to marine propulsion systems and electrical diagnostics to resolve complex issues efficiently. Maintain detailed service records, logs, and reports for all repairs performed to ensure compliance with safety standards and operational procedures. Collaborate with team members on heavy lifting tasks involving large components or engines while adhering to safety guidelines. Collaborate with team members on keeping the shop, vehicles, lift truck on operation, cleanliness and organization according to our standards. Qualifications Proven experience as a service technician or mechanic specializing in marine engines or heavy machinery; military experience in related fields is highly valued. Strong mechanical knowledge of diesel mechanics, marine propulsion systems, and mechanical systems repair. Proficiency in reading schematics, technical drawings, and interpreting complex diagrams for troubleshooting purposes. Electrical experience including troubleshooting marine electrical systems using diagnostic tools like ohmmeters and multimeters. Hands-on experience with water transportation equipment maintenance, ship electrical systems maintenance, and power tools operation. Ability to perform precision work using calipers, soldering equipment, sheet metal tools, and other specialized instruments. Knowledge of safety procedures including proper PPE use during maintenance activities involving heavy lifting or hazardous materials. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to team members or clients. Physical ability to perform heavy lifting tasks regularly while maintaining safety standards in demanding environments.
