Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities Under the supervision of the Director of Transportation, the Shop Foreman will carry out the following duties:
  • Diagnose and repair diesel and gasoline engines, transmissions, drivetrains, brake systems, steering systems, suspension systems, and electrical components.
  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections and scheduled servicing on school buses and support vehicles.
  • Be accountable for all tools, parts and equipment issued.
  • Conduct state and federal safety inspections and ensure compliance with all transportation regulations.
  • Maintain accurate service records, repair documentation, and maintenance logs.
  • Respond to vehicle breakdowns and perform emergency repairs as needed.
  • Ensure all repairs are completed safely, efficiently, and according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Assist with the completion of maintenance requests, monthly inspections and repair orders.
  • Maintain an up-to-date inventory of all tools and equipment.
  • Participate in training programs to increase skills and proficiency in areas related to assignments.
  • Complete assignments on time and in compliance with directions.
  • Follow and enforce school rules, administrative regulations and Board policy as well as federal and state laws.
  • Drive bus routes as needed.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Requirements High school diploma or GED Two years minimum, four years preferable, automotive or diesel mechanic experience. Must hold or acquire a valid Georgia Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with P, S endorsements. General knowledge of automotive and diesel repair. Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately and efficiently. Be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, sit, climb and lift items of approximately 50 pounds throughout the workday.
Pay:
$25.00 - $30.00 per hour
