Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities Under the supervision of the Director of Transportation, the Shop Foreman will carry out the following duties:
- Diagnose and repair diesel and gasoline engines, transmissions, drivetrains, brake systems, steering systems, suspension systems, and electrical components.
- Perform preventive maintenance inspections and scheduled servicing on school buses and support vehicles.
- Be accountable for all tools, parts and equipment issued.
- Conduct state and federal safety inspections and ensure compliance with all transportation regulations.
- Maintain accurate service records, repair documentation, and maintenance logs.
- Respond to vehicle breakdowns and perform emergency repairs as needed.
- Ensure all repairs are completed safely, efficiently, and according to manufacturer specifications.
- Assist with the completion of maintenance requests, monthly inspections and repair orders.
- Maintain an up-to-date inventory of all tools and equipment.
- Participate in training programs to increase skills and proficiency in areas related to assignments.
- Complete assignments on time and in compliance with directions.
- Follow and enforce school rules, administrative regulations and Board policy as well as federal and state laws.
- Drive bus routes as needed.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
