IMPORTANT

Applicants must have prior hands-on bus maintenance and repair experience and must be available to work weekends. We are seeking an experienced Diesel Bus Mechanic to join our maintenance team. This position is responsible for keeping our fleet safe, reliable, DOT-compliant, and ready for daily passenger service. The ideal candidate will have direct experience maintaining and repairing commercial buses, including transit buses, shuttle buses, school buses, motorcoaches, or similar passenger vehicles. Key Responsibilities Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain diesel-powered buses and commercial passenger vehicles. Perform preventive maintenance inspections and scheduled fleet services. Diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, air brakes, steering, suspension, electrical systems, HVAC systems, and other vehicle components. Troubleshoot check-engine lights, warning systems, electrical faults, and mechanical problems. Perform DOT inspections and identify safety or compliance concerns. Complete emergency and unscheduled repairs to minimize vehicle downtime. Conduct pre-repair and post-repair inspections and road tests when necessary. Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records. Keep the shop clean, organized, and safe. Work closely with operations to prioritize repairs and ensure buses are ready for scheduled service. Required Qualifications Professional bus maintenance and repair experience is required. At least two years of experience working with Detroit and Cummins diesel engines . At least two years of experience with air-conditioning and electrical systems . Strong knowledge of diesel engines and commercial vehicle systems. Experience with air brakes, suspension, steering, electrical diagnostics, and preventive maintenance. Ability to operate diagnostic equipment and repair tools. Knowledge of DOT and FMCSA vehicle-safety requirements. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Must own a basic set of mechanic's tools. Must be able to safely lift, bend, kneel, climb, and work underneath commercial vehicles. High school diploma or equivalent required. CDL preferred. ASE certifications are a plus. Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who understands that maintaining a passenger transportation fleet is different from working only on automobiles or light-duty trucks. The successful candidate will have direct bus-maintenance experience, strong diagnostic abilities, a safety-first mindset, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced fleet environment.
