Heavy Diesel Mechanic - 1099 Contractor Starting Around $22/Hour | Monday-Friday | Metro Atlanta We're a small, busy diesel repair operation looking for a dependable, hardworking mechanic to join us. Let's get the most important thing out of the way: we need someone who shows up. You don't have to be a 20-year master diesel tech who knows everything there is to know. Some solid diesel/mechanical experience, a willingness to learn, and a good work ethic will get our attention. We stay very busy year-round , so there is plenty of work. We need somebody who isn't afraid to get dirty, can keep moving when the day gets hectic, and understands that customers are depending on us to keep their trucks and equipment running. What You'll Be Working On We service heavy-duty trucks, fleet vehicles, and other diesel-powered equipment throughout the Metro Atlanta area. We specialize in Volvo and Mack repair.
Your work may include:
Diesel engine diagnostics and repairs Preventive maintenance and inspections Electrical troubleshooting Engine and component replacement Welding and light fabrication Using diagnostic programs such as JPRO, Tech Tool, TeamViewer, and similar software Mobile service calls Picking up parts when needed Helping around the shop wherever needed Some days are straightforward. Some days everything seems to break at once. We need somebody who can roll with it and keep working. Experience Is Important. Dependability Is More Important. We're looking for someone with diesel or heavy equipment experience, preferably around 5+ years , but we're willing to consider someone with less experience if you have good mechanical ability and you're willing to learn. What matters most to us is that you: Show up when you're supposed to Work hard and stay productive Have basic diesel/mechanical knowledge Can troubleshoot and think through a problem Are willing to learn things you don't already know Take pride in doing repairs correctly Can handle a fast-paced workload Take care of tools and equipment Treat customers and their equipment with respect Have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation We're happy to teach someone things they don't know. We can't teach someone to be dependable or want to work. How You'll Start You won't be thrown into a service truck by yourself on your first day. You'll start by riding along and working with us , learning our customers, equipment, service area, and how we handle jobs. We also have tools available at the shop. You don't need to move your entire toolbox over before you even know whether you like working here. Once you've decided the job is a good fit, you're welcome to start bringing your own tools. If you prove that you're dependable and can handle the work, the goal is for you to eventually have your own service truck and more independence.

The Shop We're a small operation, not a big corporate repair facility. That means everybody has to pull their weight, but it also means you're not just another employee number. We have a shop with a fridge and microwave , and we keep beverages around, and there's usually a homemade lunch available too — unless your ol' lady already packed you something better. After one year, you'll also receive one week of paid vacation. Who Will Do Well Here? Someone who likes staying busy. Someone who would rather be turning wrenches than standing around looking at the clock. Someone who understands that when the phone is ringing and trucks are down, we've got work to do. You don't need to know everything on day one. If you've got some diesel experience, mechanical common sense, a willingness to learn, and most importantly you show up and work , we'd like to talk to you. Yes a background check is required. A criminal record does not automatically disqualify you. We are primarily concerned with recent or relevant convictions involving violence, theft, or dishonesty due to access to customer property, vehicles, tools, and equipment.
