Heavy Diesel Mechanic

Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy-duty vehicles and equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety. Your expertise will help keep our fleet operational and reliable, supporting our commitment to excellence in service delivery. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, air brakes, suspensions, and electrical systems across various heavy equipment and vehicles. Conduct routine maintenance including oil changes, tire services, alignment checks, and component replacements to prevent breakdowns. Fabricate and modify parts using welding and hand tools to meet specific repair or customization needs. Operate heavy machinery such as excavators, skidsteers, forklifts, and tractor-trailers safely and efficiently during repair or testing procedures. Read schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot complex mechanical systems accurately. Maintain detailed service records, work orders, and inspection reports to ensure compliance with safety standards. Assist in equipment assembly, installation, and testing of new machinery or components as required. Requirements Proven experience as a Heavy Diesel Mechanic with dump trucks and heavy machines such as excavators, skid steers, etc. Strong mechanical knowledge of heavy equipment operation including construction machinery, industrial equipment, and automotive systems. Proficiency in automotive diagnostics, electrical system repair, hydraulics, suspension systems, and HVAC components. Skilled in using power tools, hand tools, welding equipment, and soldering techniques for repairs and fabrication tasks. Painting is a plus, but not required. Ability to read schematics accurately and interpret technical manuals for troubleshooting complex mechanical issues. Experience working with heavy machinery. Physical ability to perform heavy lifting, work at heights or confined spaces as needed for maintenance tasks. CDL Class A license is a plus, but not required. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus. $29.00 - $38.00 per hour
