Ambassador Personnel, Inc. is looking for an experienced Diesel Mechanic / Mechanic II for our client. We need someone who knows their way around diesel equipment, air brakes, electrical systems, and computer diagnostics — someone who can identify the root cause of a problem and make the repair without needing constant supervision. Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on company vehicles and equipment. This is a mid-level position requiring the ability to independently diagnose and repair common vehicle and equipment issues with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with heavy-duty vehicles, diesel systems, air and hydraulic brakes, electrical troubleshooting, and computer-based diagnostic equipment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform thorough preventive maintenance inspections on company vehicles and equipment, identifying potential mechanical and safety issues before failures occur.
• Diagnose vehicle and equipment problems using OBD/computer diagnostic systems, scan tools, multimeters, fault codes, live data, and diagnostic reports.
• Inspect, diagnose, adjust, and repair air and hydraulic brake systems, including brake shoes, drums, rotors, pads, slack adjusters, air brake chambers, and related components.
• Troubleshoot electrical, charging, starting, and lighting systems.
• Diagnose and repair climate-control systems.
• Perform repairs and component replacements with minimal supervision.
• Identify worn components, fluid leaks, damaged belts and hoses, exhaust leaks, and other developing maintenance concerns.
• Document diagnostic findings, repairs performed, and parts used in the work-order system.
• Communicate repair recommendations and diagnostic findings to supervisors and parts personnel.
• Assist and provide guidance to entry-level mechanics as directed.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and the shop in a clean and safe working condition.
• Attend required safety meetings, technical training, and manufacturer-specific training. Required Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2-4 years of experience as a heavy-duty vehicle or diesel mechanic, or an equivalent combination of vocational/technical training and hands-on experience.
• Demonstrated proficiency with air and hydraulic brake systems.
• Working knowledge of diesel engines, drivetrain, suspension, steering, and chassis systems.
• Experience using computer diagnostic equipment, OBD/scan tools, and multimeters.
• Ability to systematically diagnose mechanical and electrical problems rather than relying on trial-and-error parts replacement.
• Experience performing preventive maintenance inspections and identifying developing equipment issues.
• Valid driver's license. Preferred Qualifications
• CDL preferred, but not required.
• ASE certification in brakes, preventive maintenance, electrical systems, or related areas preferred but not required.
• Candidates without current ASE certifications should be willing to obtain applicable certifications.
• Basic knowledge of DOT inspection requirements and FMCSA out-of-service criteria.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment This position is performed primarily in a vehicle repair shop and requires standing, walking, bending, stooping, crouching, climbing, and frequent use of hand and power tools. The employee may regularly lift both light and heavy objects and work around moving equipment, noise, dirt, grease, dust, and automotive chemicals.
