A USA Rentals — West Chicago, IL A USA Rentals is a growing construction equipment rental company in West Chicago, IL. We are looking for an experienced, dependable Construction Equipment / Diesel Mechanic to maintain, diagnose, repair, and service our rental fleet. Our equipment fleet includes skid steers, mini excavators, track loaders, rollers, compactors, trenchers, concrete buggies, air compressors, generators, and other construction and power equipment. This is a hands-on position for someone who understands that keeping rental equipment safe, reliable, and ready for customers is critical to the business. Responsibilities Diagnose, repair, service, and maintain construction and rental equipment. Perform preventative maintenance and routine inspections. Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine-related problems. Work on diesel-powered equipment and engines. Service and repair skid steers, mini excavators, track loaders, rollers, compactors, trenchers, compressors, generators, and other equipment. Identify problems before equipment goes out to customers. Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns and repair needs. Perform repairs both in the shop and, when necessary, at customer job sites. Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance, parts, and equipment condition. Inspect returned rental equipment and determine what maintenance or repairs are needed. Help keep the equipment fleet clean, organized, safe, and rental-ready. Communicate clearly with the owner regarding equipment problems, repair needs, parts, and expected completion times. Prioritize multiple repair and maintenance requests according to business needs. Follow manufacturer recommendations and company procedures for maintenance and repairs. Assist with general shop and equipment-yard responsibilities when needed. Qualifications Previous experience repairing construction equipment, heavy equipment, agricultural equipment, fleet vehicles, or similar machinery. Strong diesel engine experience required. Knowledge of hydraulic systems, electrical systems, engines, and mechanical components. Ability to diagnose problems and determine appropriate repairs. Ability to use basic diagnostic and repair tools. Ability to work independently and efficiently. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple repair requests. Must be dependable and consistently on time. Must be willing to work a demanding schedule when necessary. Valid driver's license preferred. Welding/fabrication experience is a plus. Experience with rental equipment is a plus.
