Indianapolis, IN and surrounding area About the Job We are looking for a reliable, skilled, and motivated Mobile Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our team. This is a hands-on mobile mechanic position servicing semi trucks, tractor-trailers, and heavy-duty commercial vehicles at customer locations, truck stops, fleet yards, and roadside locations. The ideal candidate is comfortable diagnosing and repairing diesel equipment in the field and understands that getting a truck back on the road quickly and safely is the priority. Compensation $23+ per hour, depending on experience PLUS $100 for each qualifying mobile/roadside callout. The callout payment is in addition to the hourly wage and is intended to compensate the technician for responding to mobile service calls. Actual compensation may vary based on experience, qualifications, schedule, and the type of callout. Responsibilities The Mobile Heavy Diesel Mechanic will be responsible for: Traveling to customer locations to diagnose and repair heavy-duty trucks and trailers. Responding to roadside breakdowns and emergency service calls. Diagnosing diesel engine problems. Performing mechanical and electrical troubleshooting. Using diagnostic tools and scan equipment. Repairing and replacing engine components. Troubleshooting starting and charging systems. Repairing brakes and air brake systems. Repairing air lines and air-system components. Diagnosing suspension and steering issues. Performing cooling-system repairs. Performing fuel-system repairs. Troubleshooting electrical wiring, sensors, lights, and related components. Performing preventive maintenance. Repairing semi-trailers and commercial trailers. Repairing trailer lights and wiring. Repairing trailer brakes and suspension. Performing wheel-end and related repairs when qualified. Inspecting equipment and identifying additional problems. Completing roadside repairs safely and efficiently. Communicating repair findings to customers and management. Completing service reports and documenting parts and labor. Maintaining company tools, equipment, and mobile service vehicle. Keeping the service vehicle organized and properly stocked. Following all applicable safety procedures. Types of Equipment Experience with the following is preferred: Semi tractors Tractor-trailers Dry van trailers Reefer trailers Flatbed trailers Fleet trucks Heavy-duty diesel equipment Experience with Cummins, Detroit, PACCAR, Volvo/Mack, Freightliner, Peterbilt, Kenworth, International, and Western Star is a plus. Required Skills & Qualifications The ideal candidate should have: Previous heavy-duty diesel mechanic experience. Experience repairing semi trucks and/or trailers. Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills. Ability to diagnose problems rather than simply replace parts. Ability to work independently in the field. Ability to use hand and power tools safely. Basic electrical troubleshooting skills. Ability to use or learn computerized diagnostic equipment. Good communication skills. Reliable attendance and punctuality. Valid driver's license. Ability to travel to customer and roadside locations. Ability to work safely around heavy-duty commercial vehicles. Physical Requirements This position requires the ability to: Work underneath trucks and trailers. Bend, kneel, climb, crawl, and reach. Lift and carry heavy tools and parts. Work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Work around diesel fuel, oil, grease, and automotive fluids. Work around traffic and roadside conditions when responding to breakdowns. Safely operate hand and power tools. Work extended hours when emergency service is required. Schedule & Callouts The exact schedule will be discussed during the interview.

The position may involve:

Regular daytime repair work. Mobile service calls. Emergency roadside calls. After-hours callouts. Weekend or holiday availability, depending on business needs. Each qualifying callout pays an additional $100 on top of the hourly wage. Why Work With Us?
