Our district is looking for an innovative problem-solver who is a good teammate and enjoys working in a vehicle/maintenance shop environment. High school diploma / GED. Comfortable around large vehicles. Post-Secondary training, including or supplemented by course work in auto/truck mechanics. Preference will be given to candidates with significant coursework in current diesel engine technology. Excellent communication skills. Must be able to acquire a Commercial Driver's License with Airbrakes, School Bus and Passenger endorsements. Must be able to lift 100 lbs. waist level & 60 lbs. repetitively. Must pass a DOT physical examination upon employment and at least every 2 years thereafter. Must possess a clean driving record with no suspensions and has never been convicted of a felony, Class A or class B misdemeanor, hit and run, or driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Must be able to obtain CPR certification and Defensive Driving certification Multi-tasking abilities and abilities to work without constant supervision. Team player can do attitude. All USD 383 employees must pass a background check and drug test.Salary :
$22.50 - $28.50/hour. Placement within this range is based on relevant qualifications, including prior experience, education, and applicable certifications (e.g., bachelor's degree, advanced certification, bilingual proficiency, etc.).Hours Per Day:
6:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.Terms of Employment:
12-month position. New employees go through a 45-day introductory period as part of onboarding after which benefits will begin, and leave can be used.Reports To :
Transportation Shop Foreman Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on the evaluation of classified personnel.Job Duties:
Perform vehicle maintenance of buses, cars, vans, suvs and trucks; oil changes, tire replacements, brakes, etc. Repair torn/ripped seats as needed. Fuel buses and vans as needed. Handle cleaning chemicals, fuel, gasoline, lubricants, and oils daily. Wash/detail school buses, activity bus and vans. Maintain outward appearance of school buses by waxing them as needed. Follow work assignments from Shop Foreman and Transportation Director and perform any special duties necessary for efficient operation of the transportation facility. Perform work in neat and organized manner in all weather conditions. Performs such other duties as may be assigned.Benefits:
