Job Description
M.J. Cataldo, Inc. , is a family-owned and operated Site Development and Landscape Construction Company who has been serving general contractors, municipalities, homeowners, and property management companies for over 20 years. We are a fair, honest, hard-working company, dedicated to serving our customers. Our attention to detail, our highly skilled employees, and our positive work environment have been the keys to our success. As we continue to grow, we are currently seeking an experienced, self-motivated, hands-on Fleet Maintenance/Diesel Mechanic with a minimum of five years of experience to help maintain a fleet of more than 60 pieces of equipment, including heavy trucks, specialized construction machinery, and 50 vehicles. This role is responsible for fleet readiness, maintenance coordination, compliance, and facility upkeep to support safe and efficient operations across multiple job sites. The ideal candidate is organized, accountable, and able to communicate effectively with internal teams, vendors, and others while helping maintain accurate, timely documentation.
Responsibilities:
- Help oversee fleet condition, availability, and preventative maintenance to minimize downtime through scheduling, recordkeeping and administrative coordination
- Schedule vehicle maintenance, inspections, and repairs
- Track equipment status, service timelines, billing, registrations, inspections, and insurance compliance
- Maintain accurate fleet records, service logs, and compliance documentation
- Communicate fleet availability and downtime to Management and field crews
- Perform data entry and update company systems with vehicle usage, fuel, and maintenance information
- Fuel equipment as needed
- Communicates information (for example, facts, ideas, or messages) in a succinct and organized manner. Engages in effective two-way communication with Management, individuals, and groups
- Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
- Occasional fabrication
- Clean and wash equipment
- Follow safety procedures such as isolating power sources and stored energy for safe maintenance and repair
- Other duties as assigned Qualifications
- A minimum of five years of experience in fleet maintenance and repair, diesel mechanics, or a related construction or transportation environment
- Ability to communicate professionally and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong mechanical and diagnostic skills
- Ability to work independently and prioritize repairs
- Commitment to safety and quality workmanship
- Ability to lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for long periods of time; ability to perform moderately heavy laboring work
- Ability to exert oneself physically over long periods of time without tiring, which may include performing repetitive tasks
- The ability to work Monday - Friday with occasional weekend hours
- A valid driver's license and good driving record
- OSHA 10 certified
- Medical DOT Certification
- Hoisting license (preferred but not required)
- Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and additional random drug screens A strong work ethic, positive attitude and can-do attitude a must!
