Cavossa Disposal Corporation is looking for a dependable, hardworking Diesel Shop Assistant / Shop Hand to support our Fleet Maintenance team. This is a hands-on, active position for someone who doesn't mind getting dirty, likes working around trucks and equipment, and is willing to jump in wherever needed. Your primary focus will be supporting our diesel mechanic shop, helping keep trucks, parts, tools, and the shop organized and ready to go. You do not need to be a diesel mechanic. This is a great opportunity for someone interested in trucks, equipment, or the diesel industry who wants to gain exposure to a working fleet maintenance shop. What You'll Be Doing Diesel Shop & Fleet Support Detail and clean company trucks, including interior and exterior washing. Clean trash truck bodies, including behind the blade and other areas requiring regular cleaning and buildup removal. Assist Diesel Mechanics when an extra set of hands is needed. Pick up and drop off parts, supplies, and materials at local vendors. Assist the Parts & Inventory Coordinator with physically organizing parts, materials, and inventory. Help keep the mechanic shop clean, safe, and organized. Sweep floors, wipe down work areas, put away tools and materials, and organize items as directed. Assist with other basic shop tasks as needed. General Operations Support While your primary responsibility will be supporting the diesel shop, we're a team-oriented operation. From time to time, you may be asked to help other departments, including: Assisting the Weld Shop with dumpster preparation, priming, and painting. Helping at the Transfer Station with onsite commodity and material separation. Riding along on a trash truck to assist with barrel collection. Helping with other general labor projects around the yard and facility. What We're Looking For We're looking for someone who: Is dependable and shows up ready to work. Is comfortable working around trucks, heavy equipment, tools, dirt, grease, and waste-related equipment. Doesn't mind physical work or working outdoors in different weather conditions. Takes direction well and is willing to learn. Can stay productive without needing constant supervision. Is willing to help wherever needed and understands that priorities can change throughout the day. Works safely and takes pride in keeping their work area clean and organized. Can safely perform physical tasks including standing, bending, climbing, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling.
