Diesel Mechanic - Waste & Recycling Fleet - $5000.00 Sign On Bonus! We're hiring a diesel mechanic for a waste and recycling company. This is hands-on maintenance and repair work on garbage trucks, compactors, balers and recycling equipment. Expect grease and hydraulics. If you want a shop that's clean and quiet, this isn't it. If you want steady, well-paid work with great benefits keeping trucks running, keep reading. $5,000 signing bonus What you'll do: Diagnose mechanical problems on trucks, compactors and recycling equipment Perform routine maintenance and repair on hydraulic systems, brake systems, transmissions, electrical systems, engines, balers and compactors Repair or replace parts such as pistons, rods, gears, valves and bearings Overhaul or replace blowers, generators, distributors, starters and pumps Read and interpret vehicle condition reports and repair orders, and work with supervisors and equipment operators to flag problems and cut down on repeat repairs Handle paperwork tied to repairs, parts usage and time tracking Repair and install plumbing and electrical components tied to hydraulic systems Follow all safety policies and procedures What you need: High school diploma or GED plus 1 year of related equipment maintenance and repair experience, OR 4 years of related equipment maintenance and repair experience in place of the diploma/GED Valid driver's license Physical demands: Comfortable using hand tools and equipment, good fine motor skills Able to reach overhead and work with your hands and arms extended Able to climb and work at heights over 4 feet Able to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs Why this role: $5,000 signing bonus Strong benefits with multiple flexible medical plan options Generous PTO plus floating holidays Solid 401k with company match Tuition reimbursement and college loan reimbursement Scholarship program for employees' dependents Parental leave Inclusive, team-oriented culture with employee engagement events and resource groups
