General Summary:
A PM Fleet Mechanic is responsible for assisting with the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Fleet trucks and any other required Shop related task. In this classification you may be required to assist senior mechanics with the following operations.
Responsibilities:
  • Performing repairs as well as preventative maintenance on fleet trucks
  • Knowledge of OEM Software, Tools, & Technology to Diagnose.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical related failures
  • Makes repairs to achieve peak performance, production as well as safe operation of vehicles
  • Complete daily maintenance, inspection records, work orders, safety and DOT paper work
  • Maintain and secure work tools
  • Clean and maintain work area
  • Provide tools to perform mechanical repairs
  • Make unscheduled repairs to vehicles by reading DVIRs filled out daily by drivers
  • Any yard or shop clean up required
Qualifications:
  • Must be familiar with software such as: Cummins Insite, Allison & Ford IDS., Davie (Paccar).
  • Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be team player
  • Must maintain good attendance record
  • Strong communication skills with Shop Manager, as well as Shop Forman.
  • Regular and punctual attendance is an essential function of this position. Variations to the work schedule need to receive the supervisor's approval.
  • Employee may also be required to handle and perform work safely and efficiently through stressful situations
Environment:
Working conditions are normal for a shop environment. This position also includes exposure to noise, dust, grease, vibrations, and all types of weather and temperature conditions; work and/or walk on various types of surfaces including slippery or uneven surfaces and rough terrain; incumbents may be required to work extended hours including evenings and weekends. Work involves frequent lifting of materials over 50 pounds. Machinery and tool operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, work boots, and hardhats/bump caps. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted
