Job Description
Overview Join our team as a Commercial Truck Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic and become a vital part of maintaining and repairing a wide range of heavy-duty vehicles and equipment. Duties Perform comprehensive diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on diesel-powered commercial trucks, including tractor-trailers and other heavy-duty vehicles. Conduct repairs on mechanical systems such as transmissions, suspensions, brakes, hydraulics, air brake systems, and steering components. Utilize schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot electrical systems, automotive electrical systems, HVAC units, and other vehicle electronics. Fabricate parts or modify existing components using welding, hand tools, power tools, and fabrication techniques to meet repair specifications. Perform tire service including mounting, balancing, repairs, and wheel alignments to ensure vehicle safety and efficiency. Maintain detailed service records, complete shift reports, incident logs, and ensure all repairs meet safety standards and manufacturer specifications. Skills Proven dealership experience or extensive mechanic experience working with heavy trucks and diesel engines. Strong mechanical knowledge of vehicle systems including transmissions, hydraulics, suspension components, shocks & struts. Proficiency with automotive diagnostics tools and schematics for troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues. Skilled in fabrication techniques including welding and soldering for custom repairs or modifications. Ability to perform precise alignments and wheel balancing using specialized equipment. Familiarity with vehicle maintenance procedures for tractor-trailers and farm machinery; knowledge of industrial equipment repair is a plus. Excellent customer service skills to communicate effectively with truck drivers and clients regarding repairs or maintenance needs. Capable of heavy lifting safely while handling tires or large components; experienced with tire service operations. Knowledge of HVAC systems within vehicles or equipment is advantageous; familiarity with automotive electrical system repair is essential.
