Position Summary We are seeking an experienced and dependable Diesel Mechanic to join our fleet maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining our trucks, trailers, and other fleet equipment to ensure our trucks remain safe, reliable, and operational. The ideal candidate is a skilled problem-solver who takes pride in quality work, works well independently, and understands the importance of keeping a transportation fleet moving safely and efficiently. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Perform preventative maintenance and routine inspections on diesel-powered trucks and fleet equipment. Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues. Perform engine, transmission, brake, suspension, steering, and exhaust system repairs. Troubleshoot and repair diesel emissions systems, including DPF, DEF, and related components. Inspect vehicles and equipment to identify potential safety or maintenance concerns. Perform scheduled maintenance in accordance with company and manufacturer requirements. Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, parts, and labor. Respond to vehicle breakdowns and perform roadside repairs when needed. Ensure all work is completed safely and in compliance with applicable DOT regulations and company policies. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Communicate effectively with drivers, maintenance personnel, and management regarding vehicle condition and repair needs. Perform other maintenance-related duties as assigned. Qualifications Previous experience as a diesel mechanic, heavy-duty truck mechanic, or fleet mechanic preferred. Strong knowledge of diesel engines and heavy-duty vehicle systems. Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical problems using appropriate diagnostic equipment. Basic computer skills and ability to use electronic diagnostic systems. Ability to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and repair instructions. Must be able to work independently and prioritize repairs based on safety and operational needs. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Valid driver's license required. CDL is a plus. Master Heavy Duty Mechanic certification, ASE or other relevant certifications are a plus. Physical Requirements Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry heavy parts and equipment. Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb, and work in various positions for extended periods. Ability to work in a shop environment and occasionally outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to safely operate and work around heavy trucks and equipment.
