$40-$50/hour, based on experience Position Overview A transportation and distribution operation is seeking a highly experienced Senior Fleet Maintenance Technician to perform advanced diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance across a commercial vehicle fleet. This is a senior-level position for a technician who can independently troubleshoot complex issues involving diesel engines, transmissions, electrical systems, brakes, refrigeration equipment, drivetrains, hydraulics, and other heavy-duty vehicle systems. The Senior Technician will also serve as a technical resource for less-experienced mechanics and provide additional shop leadership when needed. Key Responsibilities Perform advanced diagnostics and repairs on tractors, trailers, and related fleet equipment. Troubleshoot diesel engines, transmissions, drivetrains, steering, suspension, brakes, electrical systems, HVAC systems, and liftgates. Diagnose and repair refrigerated trailer systems. Perform preventive maintenance and required vehicle inspections. Use OEM diagnostic software, electrical meters, and specialized testing equipment. Identify root causes of recurring vehicle failures and complete corrective repairs. Perform electrical repairs involving low-voltage systems and vehicle controls. Complete welding and fabrication projects as needed. Mentor and train less-experienced fleet technicians. Provide technical guidance and support to shop operations. Ensure repairs and inspections comply with applicable transportation and safety requirements. Maintain accurate work orders and maintenance documentation. Support vehicle reliability, uptime, and overall fleet performance. Qualifications 5+ years of fleet maintenance and repair experience, or equivalent technical training and relevant experience. Advanced experience diagnosing and repairing medium- and heavy-duty trucks. Strong knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, drivetrains, and electrical systems. Advanced electrical troubleshooting ability. Experience with computerized diagnostic software. Strong preventive maintenance and inspection experience. High school diploma or GED. Valid driver's license. Must provide standard personal hand tools. Preferred Qualifications Refrigerated trailer diagnosis and repair ASE certifications Commercial vehicle inspection certifications EPA refrigeration certification
