Opportunity:
This position will be joining the team at a zero landfill, environmental services company. We are seeking a skilled and reliable Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic to join the team. This individual will be responsible for maintaining and repairing garbage trucks, roll-off trucks, as well as addressing other maintenance needs across the fleet. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to perform both routine and complex repairs efficiently. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
What You'll Be Doing:
Perform routine maintenance and oil changes on garbage trucks, roll-off trucks, and skid steer equipment Conduct maintenance and repairs as needed on all trucks in the fleet to ensure safe and reliable operation. Diagnose and perform large-scale repairs on trucks that may break down during the day. Conduct DOT inspections to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations. Identify and source necessary parts for repairs, ensuring minimal downtime for fleet vehicles. Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues efficiently and effectively. Respond to urgent maintenance needs and adapt to other repair tasks that may arise throughout the day. Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs performed. What makes you a great fit: MN DOT Certification for Inspections (Required) 2+ years of proven experience as a diesel mechanic or heavy-duty equipment technician. High School diploma, further related college courses are a plus Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems. Familiarity with garbage trucks, roll-off trucks, and skid steer equipment preferred. Ability to conduct DOT inspections and ensure compliance with safety standards. Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical issues. Effective communication skills and ability to work independently. Knowledge of parts sourcing and inventory management.
