2988837510-2 Apply for this job now Job Description GFL Environmental is seeking an Evening Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, and repair trucks and heavy equipment supporting waste and recycling operations. You will perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot hydraulic and electrical systems, complete brake and engine repairs, and ensure all work meets safety and environmental standards. Working evening shifts in our shop, you'll document work orders, collaborate with drivers and operations staff, and help keep essential service fleets running reliably for the communities we serve. Responsibilities Inspect, diagnose, and repair trucks and heavy equipment used in waste and recycling operations Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on fleet vehicles and equipment Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, electrical, and brake systems Use diagnostic tools and software to identify mechanical issues Document all repairs, parts used, and labor in maintenance systems Ensure work complies with safety, environmental, and company standards Collaborate with drivers and operations staff to prioritize repairs Support evening shift operations and respond to urgent repair needs Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment Participate in ongoing training to stay current on equipment and repair methods Required Skills Diesel engine repair Hydraulic systems troubleshooting Heavy truck maintenance Brake systems service Electrical diagnostics (12/24 V) Preventative maintenance scheduling Welding and fabrication Use of diagnostic software/tools Safety and environmental compliance Maintenance documentation
