Overview Join our dynamic team as a Diesel Shop Mechanic and become a vital part of maintaining and repairing heavy-duty diesel equipment, farm machinery, and industrial vehicles. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with a wide range of machinery, including excavators, cranes, Caterpillar equipment, and tractor-trailers. As a Diesel Shop Mechanic, you'll utilize your mechanical expertise to diagnose issues, perform repairs, and ensure optimal performance of diesel engines and heavy equipment. Your skills will directly contribute to keeping operations running smoothly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Duties Perform comprehensive diagnostics on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, and air brake systems using schematics and automotive diagnostic tools. Conduct repairs and maintenance on heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm machinery to ensure safety and reliability. Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering techniques, and fabrication skills for assembly, repair, and modification tasks. Conduct tire service, shocks & struts replacement, wheel alignments, and brake repairs to maintain vehicle safety standards. Repair and service industrial equipment including HVAC systems, hydraulic components, electrical systems, and power tools. Follow detailed service procedures based on schematics and technical manuals; document all work performed accurately. Assist with heavy lifting operations safely while adhering to safety protocols; perform welding and fabrication as needed for custom repairs or modifications. Experience Proven mechanic experience with a focus on diesel engine repair and heavy equipment maintenance. Dealership experience or similar background working with Caterpillar or other heavy machinery brands is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of automotive diagnostics, electrical systems, hydraulics, transmissions, air brake systems, suspension components, and HVAC systems. Hands-on experience with fabrication techniques including welding and soldering; familiarity with assembly processes. Skilled in using schematics for troubleshooting complex mechanical or electrical issues; capable of reading technical manuals confidently. Experience operating heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors-trailers, or other industrial machinery. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining attention to detail in repairs; excellent customer service skills are a plus for interacting with clients or team members.
