About the Opportunity We are looking for an experienced and dependable Diesel Mechanic to join our team and help maintain, diagnose, and repair the equipment that keeps Nu Way and our customers operating. This is an exciting opportunity for a mechanically skilled professional who enjoys troubleshooting equipment, solving problems, and working with a variety of diesel-powered construction and rental equipment. The Diesel Mechanic will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, completing repairs, and ensuring equipment is safe and ready for use. This position will work closely with our Rental, Service, Operations, and Sales teams to keep equipment operating reliably and efficiently. What You'll Do Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain diesel-powered vehicles. Inspect vehicles to identify mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and other issues. Perform routine engine maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacement, and fluid checks. Troubleshoot and repair diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, brakes, and other mechanical components. Perform repairs and maintenance on company vehicles and other equipment as needed. Use diagnostic equipment and tools to identify problems. Read and interpret service manuals, wiring diagrams, schematics, and equipment documentation. Perform welding, fabrication, and basic machining tasks when necessary. Complete repair orders and maintenance records accurately and in a timely manner. Communicate issues, repair needs, and parts requirements to management. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop and work area. Follow manufacturer recommendations and company procedures for equipment maintenance and repair. Follow all company safety policies and applicable OSHA requirements. Assist with emergency or field repairs when necessary. Assist with loading, unloading, and movement of equipment as needed. Help maintain an accurate inventory of tools, parts, and equipment. Stay current on new equipment technology, diagnostic procedures, and repair techniques. Perform other mechanical, maintenance, and service duties as assigned. What We're Looking For 3+ years of experience as a diesel mechanic or heavy equipment mechanic preferred. High School Diploma or GED preferred. Strong knowledge of diesel engines and heavy equipment systems. Experience troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic, electrical, fuel, cooling, and braking systems. Experience working on construction, rental, agricultural, commercial, or heavy equipment. Ability to diagnose mechanical problems and determine appropriate repair solutions. Ability to read and interpret service manuals, wiring diagrams, and equipment specifications. Experience using diagnostic tools and mechanical testing equipment. Welding and fabrication experience is a plus. Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a team. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Ability to prioritize multiple repairs and maintenance requests. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to safely operate forklifts and other shop equipment. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record, CDL preferred Ability to work in a shop environment and outdoors when necessary. Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull heavy parts and equipment. Ability to work safely around heavy machinery, moving equipment, and tools.
