Job Description
Overview Join our dynamic team as a Lead Diesel Mechanic and take charge of maintaining and repairing a diverse fleet of heavy-duty vehicles and industrial equipment. In this energetic role, you'll lead a team of skilled technicians, ensure optimal performance of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and mechanical components, and uphold the highest standards of safety and quality. Your expertise will keep our operations running smoothly, efficiently, and reliably, empowering us to meet demanding service goals with confidence. Duties Lead and supervise a team of diesel mechanics, providing guidance, training, and mentorship to foster technical excellence. Diagnose complex issues across a wide range of heavy equipment including excavators, cranes, forklifts, farm machinery, and truck-trailers using schematics and automotive electrical systems. Perform comprehensive repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, suspensions, brakes, hydraulics, shocks & struts, HVAC systems, and other mechanical systems with precision. Conduct equipment maintenance tasks such as tire service, wheel alignments, welding repairs, and component assembly to ensure safety and operational efficiency. Utilize power tools and hand tools effectively for fabrication, repairs, and modifications; maintain detailed service records for all work performed. Oversee equipment inspections using diagnostic tools; interpret schematics to troubleshoot electrical systems and automotive electrical repairs. Ensure compliance with safety protocols related to heavy lifting, air brake systems, vehicle systems diagnostics, and welding operations. Experience Proven experience as a heavy equipment mechanic or diesel technician with dealership experience preferred. Strong background in heavy truck repair including tractor-trailers and vehicle systems for truck drivers. Demonstrated ability to read schematics accurately and perform automotive diagnostics across various machinery types. Hands-on experience with fabrication techniques such as welding and soldering; familiarity with industrial equipment maintenance. Knowledge of heavy equipment operation including excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm machinery is highly desirable. Mechanical knowledge encompassing transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, HVAC units, and air brake systems.
