FedEx Ground Contractor (Local Fleet) Job Description We are a local FedEx Ground contractor in Jackson, MS seeking a part-time fleet mechanic to inspect, maintain, and repair our gas and diesel delivery trucks at our station. This job requires the mechanic to bring all of their own tools. This role focuses on daily vehicle checks and fixing issues as they're found to keep our fleet safe, compliant, and on the road.

Schedule Morning:

7-9AM Pre-dispatch vehicle inspections

Evening:

5-7PM Post-route inspections and repairs Flexible scheduling within 20-25 hours per week Responsibilities Perform daily DOT inspections on all FedEx delivery trucks (step vans & box trucks) Identify and repair mechanical, electrical, and safety issues Handle routine maintenance (lights, brakes, sensors, fluids, minor repairs) Diagnose issues reported by drivers Coordinate with management on repair priorities Maintain a clean and organized work area Ensure vehicles meet FedEx safety and compliance standards Must be able to quickly complete multiple oil and brake changes before trucks dispatch Qualifications Mechanical experience (fleet, diesel, box trucks, or step vans preferred) Ability to diagnose and repair common truck issues Reliable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented Own basic tools Valid driver's license Must pass background and drug test CDL not required Compensation Competitive hourly pay based on experience Consistent, predictable part-time hours Long-term opportunity with a growing operation Why This Job No on-call or late-night emergency work Local, steady work at one station Flexible schedule Ideal for semi-retired mechanics or those seeking extra income Apply on Indeed or message us directly to set up an interview.
