Key Responsibilities Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair diesel-powered heavy equipment and industrial machinery Respond to breakdowns and minimize equipment downtime across multiple locations Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on heavy equipment and production systems Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical systems Maintain conveyors, bearings, pulleys, motors, pumps, screeners, and related equipment Perform MIG and TIG welding repairs and fabrication work Assist with equipment installations, facility upgrades, and maintenance projects Support maintenance planning, inventory management, and parts control Coordinate with Plant Managers and Operations Leaders to prioritize maintenance needs Train and mentor maintenance personnel as needed Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation Follow all company safety policies and environmental compliance standards Qualifications Required 5+ years of experience in industrial maintenance, diesel mechanics, heavy equipment repair, or related fields Strong troubleshooting skills involving mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems Experience working on heavy equipment, loaders, grinders, screeners, trucks, or industrial processing equipment MIG and TIG welding experience Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and maintenance documentation Valid Driver's License Willingness to travel up to 50% throughout Eastern North Carolina and Virginia Strong commitment to safety and equipment reliability Preferred Diesel Technician Certification Technical degree or trade school certification Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) Previous multi-site maintenance experience Experience in recycling, composting, manufacturing, agriculture, or industrial operations Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work in varying physical positions throughout the day Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds Ability to work around heavy equipment and moving machinery Ability to work in confined spaces and elevated work areas when required Work Environment This position requires working both indoors and outdoors and may involve exposure to: Heavy equipment and industrial machinery Dust, dirt, mud, and varying weather conditions Loud noise levels Uneven terrain Mechanical and electrical hazards Slip, trip, and fall hazards Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is required, including hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, high-visibility clothing, and safety footwear.
