CLASS A - DIESEL MECHANIC

at senior or master level to join our dynamic maintenance team. The Diesel Mechanic will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining and repairing garbage trucks and other heavy-duty diesel equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on a wide variety of heavy-duty diesel equipment, garbage trucks and industrial machinery. This is a Union Position with Competitive Pay and Benefits (Pension Plan; health, dental and vision insurance; Paid Time Off (sick, vacation and holidays); Uniforms provided Key Responsibilities Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, air brakes, suspension systems, and electrical systems across diverse heavy duty fleet and machinery. Diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic issues. Conduct routine and preventative maintenance tasks including oil changes, tire service, alignment, welding, and equipment inspections to maximize operational uptime on sanitation trucks and diesel powered equipment, to minimize downtime and extend equipment life. Repair or replace defective parts, including engines, transmissions, brakes and steering systems. Read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and wiring diagrams to accurately troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues. Fabricate parts or components as needed using power tools and welding equipment to meet repair specifications. Maintain detailed and accurate service records documenting repairs performed, parts used, and inspections completed for compliance and future reference. Assist with heavy lifting tasks using appropriate equipment while adhering to safety standards. Ensure all work is completed in compliance with safety regulations and company standards. Respond to emergency breakdowns and perform roadside repairs when needed. Provide exceptional and effective communication with Manager, Fleet Maintenance Team, Operations, Drivers, Management and Executive Leadership regarding repair status and maintenance needs. Experience Proven experience and extensive background in heavy equipment mechanics in is required. Proven experience working with diesel engines, preferably in Refuse/Sanitation trucks and heavy equipment. Technical Certification of Training in diesel mechanics preferred Hands-on experience with excavator, forklift operation, as well as heavy diesel truck repairs including tractor-trailers. Strong knowledge of automotive diagnostics, vehicle maintenance procedures, hydraulic and electrical systems, transmissions, suspension systems, HVAC systems for vehicles and equipment. Skilled in electrical system repair including automotive electrical systems and soldering techniques. Familiarity with heavy lifting procedures using power tools to ensure safe handling of large components. Ability to read technical manuals accurately and utilize diagnostic tools effectively for troubleshooting. Pay:

$37.00 - $45.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 - 50.0 per week
