Job Description

Description:
G. DeVincentis & Son Construction Co., Inc. is a family-owned heavy and highway contractor based in Binghamton, NY, specializing in water, sewer, road, and concrete construction across New York and Pennsylvania. We run one of the largest construction fleets in the Southern Tier and are looking for a Diesel Mechanic to keep our trucks and equipment on the road and on the job. Overtime is available if desired. This is a full-time, year-round, shop-based position with steady work, a well-equipped shop, and a diverse fleet - from Mack and Peterbilt highway trucks to CAT, Case, John Deere, and Komatsu heavy equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, brakes, and electrical systems on heavy trucks and construction equipment. Perform preventive maintenance — oil changes, filters, fluids, greasing, DOT inspections, and scheduled service intervals. Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems on excavators, loaders, dozers, and other heavy equipment. Diagnose and clear engine fault codes, emissions/DEF and aftertreatment issues, and electrical faults. Perform welding and fabrication repairs as needed (a plus, not required). Keep accurate repair records, parts usage, and service logs. Respond to field breakdowns and perform on-site repairs at job sites across NY and PA when required. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop and work area.
Abilities:
Proven hands-on experience servicing diesel engines and heavy construction equipment. Working knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, brake, and aftertreatment/DEF systems. Ability to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and diagnostic software. Valid driver's license required; CDL or willingness to obtain one is a strong plus. Strong work ethic, reliability, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Welding/fabrication experience a plus.
Pay:
$29.00 - $36.00 per hour
Work Location:
In person
