Job Description

Cassens Transport Company has been the premier name in the car hauling industry for over 90 years. Our goal is to work closely with the automotive industry to provide safe, timely car hauling service to all major auto manufacturers in the US and Canada. Your job as a heavy equipment diesel / car hauler mechanic is integral to ensuring the realization of this goal. Our Niagara NY shop operations. There are various shifts that are bid by seniority annually. All hourly employees are Unionized. Duties and Responsibilities include (but are not limited to): Computerized diagnosis of vehicle fault codes. Repairing trucks and trailers in accordance to OEM standards including (but not limited to welding, fabrication, brakes, hydraulics, heating and cooling, and electrical work) Perform PMs (Preventative Maintenance) and subsequent repairs as required. Inspect vehicles for safety as per DOT guidelines. Complete minor repairs as wrote up per drivers DVIR report. Air brakes. Must be able to lift sixty (60) pounds, bend, crawl, see and hear. Must possess own hand tools.
Qualifications and Skills:
Effective communication skills. (verbal and written) Effective planning and time management skills. Problem solving. Good knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations. Computerized diagnostic experience is a plus. Must be capable of driving forward and backing up in close spaces at low speeds. CDL is a plus.
Benefits:
40 hour work week plus overtime when applicable. Union pay scale. (currently $35.03 / hour) Night shift premium. $.20 / hour wage increase per qualifying ASE certification. (Diesel Engine, Drivetrain, Brakes, Suspension and Steering, Electrical, Heating Ventalation and AC, Preventative Maintenance and Inspections) Teamster benefits and pension. Company provided uniforms.
