This role is ideal for a hands-on commercial truck mechanic who can assist in leading shop operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant fleet performance.
Responsibilities:
Assist the Head Mechanic in overseeing daily shop operations Perform diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on commercial trucks and heavy duty vehicles Oversee, assign, and support routine and preventative maintenance tasks Work closely with mechanics to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues Maintain accurate repair logs, parts usage, and service records Ensure compliance with DOT regulations and documentation Collaborate with Fleet Management and Dispatch to prioritize repairs and minimize downtime Assist with onboarding, training, and performance support for mechanics Ensure shop safety, cleanliness, and compliance with company policies Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or community college courses in automotive technology or related fields is preferred 5+ years' of hands-on commercial truck repair experience Experience supporting or supervising mechanics in a shop environment Excellent communication skills Reliable, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities Valid driver's license; CDL preferred but not required Maintain a drug-free lifestyle (BBD complies with the Federal Drug-Free Workplace Act)
