Interstate Waste Services is seeking a Diesel Technician to maintain and repair our modern fleet of waste and recycling vehicles. In this safety-first role, you will perform inspections, diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and repairs on diesel trucks and hydraulic systems to keep our operations running reliably. Responsibilities Inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel trucks and waste collection vehicles to ensure safe, reliable operation Perform preventive maintenance, including fluid changes, filter replacements, and safety inspections Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and brake systems using diagnostic tools Complete work orders and repair documentation accurately and on time Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment following company safety policies Collaborate with drivers and operations to prioritize repairs and minimize downtime Operate shop tools and equipment in accordance with safety standards Participate in on-the-job training and stay current with evolving diesel technology Required Skills Diesel engine diagnostics and repair Preventive maintenance on heavy trucks Hydraulic systems maintenance and repair Brake systems (air and hydraulic) service Electrical and electronic diagnostics Use of diagnostic software and scan tools Welding and basic fabrication Reading technical manuals and schematics Fleet maintenance documentation Shop and OSHA safety practices
