The Diesel Technician performs needed repairs and preventive maintenance and ensures completion of projects in accordance with standards. The Diesel Technician ensures that appropriate tools and materials are available at job site. Responsibilities Ability to diagnose, repair or replace systems failures, perform routine vehicle preventive maintenance and assist team in diagnosing complex breakdowns. Diesel Technician takes care of all complex diagnosis of vehicle malfunctions. Diagnoses complex vehicle malfunctions independently and prioritizes safe versus unsafe work needing to be done. Inspects assigned vehicles, buses and other district vehicles, (e.g. brake system, oil levels, coolant, tire pressure, wiper blades, fan belts, exterior and interior condition, etc.). Maintains inventory, tools, equipment and shop area, tracks and logs repairs to vehicles in accordance with regulatory requirements. Prepares written materials (e.g. repair and maintenance logs, parts lists, warranty claims, etc.). Repairs complex vehicle systems and components independently (e.g. diesel/gasoline engines, transmissions, differentials, clutches, etc.). Responds to road calls regarding disabled vehicles as required. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent or job related education with study in job-related area One or more years of job related experience. (diesel engine repair knowledge a plus) Proven ability to diagnose, repair or replace systems, equipment as required Must be 19 years old or older
