In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining our fleet of tractors and trailers. Responsibilities include ordering and inventorying of parts and shop supplies. Your expertise will ensure our fleet operates safely, efficiently, and reliably, supporting the seamless transportation of our customers freight. Fleet is comprised of all Freightliner Gliders with series 60 12.7L engines and manual transmissions. This is a dayshift position Monday-Friday no weekends or holidays. Duties Perform preventative maintenance and DOT inspections on semi trucks and trailers. Conduct repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, suspensions, brakes—including air brake systems to ensure optimal vehicle performance. Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and fabrication techniques to repair or modify vehicle parts and structures as needed. Conduct brakes service, tire service, wheel alignments, shocks & struts replacements, and suspension repairs to uphold safety standards. Perform vehicle maintenance tasks including fluid changes, electrical system repairs, AC servicing, and welding repairs. Ensure compliance with safety regulations related to heavy truck repair and vehicle systems maintenance while maintaining detailed service records. Perform in-frame and out of frame engine overhauls, head gasket replacement and tune-ups on 12.7L Detroit Series 60 engines. Skills Strong mechanical knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, air brake systems, suspension components, and electrical systems. Skilled in fabrication techniques including welding and metalworking to customize or repair vehicle parts. Familiarity with schematics for troubleshooting vehicle electrical and mechanical systems. Experience with vehicle assembly, equipment repair, tire service, alignment procedures, and general automotive maintenance. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical issues clearly to clients or team members. Capable of performing heavy lifting safely while working in physically demanding environments using hand tools or power tools. Knowledge of DOT rules and regualtions
