Lake, Geauga, Cuyahoga, Portage, and surrounding Northeast Ohio counties Position Summary DuraFleet Cleveland East is seeking an experienced, motivated Lead Mobile Diesel Technician to join our team and help build our Northeast Ohio operation from the ground up. This is not just another diesel technician position. We are looking for someone who wants to become an important part of a growing startup operation —someone who takes ownership of their work, enjoys building customer relationships, and wants the opportunity to grow professionally as the company expands. The right person will initially be responsible for providing high-quality mobile maintenance, diagnostics, and repair services to commercial fleet customers throughout Lake, Geauga, Cuyahoga, Portage, and surrounding Northeast Ohio counties . As DuraFleet Cleveland East grows, our goal is for this position to grow with it. A successful Lead Technician will have the opportunity to take on additional leadership responsibilities and potentially advance into a technician management or service management role , helping oversee future technicians, service quality, training, scheduling, and day-to-day field operations. We are looking for someone who wants to help us build something—not simply clock in and out. Key Responsibilities Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on commercial fleet vehicles Diagnose diesel engine, electrical, brake, steering, suspension, drivetrain, and related system concerns Use professional diagnostic equipment, multimeters, service information, and proven troubleshooting practices Complete mobile repairs at customer facilities, fleet yards, job sites, distribution centers, and roadside locations Conduct thorough vehicle inspections and identify safety, maintenance, and reliability concerns Clearly communicate findings and repair recommendations to customers and management Maintain accurate digital work orders, including labor, parts, technician notes, inspections, and photos Keep the assigned DuraFleet service truck, tools, equipment, and inventory clean and organized Follow company procedures, manufacturer specifications, and applicable safety requirements Communicate with the Franchise Owner regarding scheduling, parts, approvals, delays, customer needs, and job completion Help establish service standards and best practices for DuraFleet Cleveland East Build strong, professional relationships with fleet customers Help train, mentor, and support additional technicians as the company grows Take ownership of customer satisfaction and represent DuraFleet professionally in the field Required Qualifications Minimum of 5•years of commercial vehicle, diesel, fleet, or heavy-equipment maintenance experience•Strong diagnostic and mechanical troubleshooting ability Experience with preventive maintenance, electrical systems, brakes, steering, and suspension Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a mobile field environment Ability to complete accurate digital documentation and use cloud-based service systems Professional communication and customer service skills Strong attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship Dependable, self-motivated, and accountable Valid driver's license with a driving record acceptable under company insurance requirements Ability to travel throughout the DuraFleet Cleveland East service territory Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation Preferred Qualifications ASE Medium/Heavy Truck certifications Class A or B Commercial Driver's License Qualified commercial vehicle and/or brake inspector credentials Experience with air brakes, trailers, hydraulics, liftgates, welding, or fabrication Experience using fleet maintenance or shop-management software Previous mobile service or roadside repair experience Previous leadership, mentoring, or technician training experience Who We're Looking For Technical ability matters, but we are also looking for the right person to grow with the company . Compensation & Future Benefits Starting compensation is $28.00-$35.00 per hour , based on experience, certifications, capabilities, and qualifications. Work will take place at customer facilities, fleet yards, distribution centers, job sites, roadside locations, and other commercial operating environments.
