Job Description

Heavy-Duty Truck Shop Mechanic (Experienced) Carbon Direct hauls for RES Coal's metallurgical coal operations — the coal that goes into steelmaking, not power plants. We're privately owned, stable, and busy year-round. We're hiring an experienced Heavy-Duty Truck Shop Mechanic to maintain our tri-axle fleet out of our truck garage. This is a senior shop seat: engine overhauls aren't part of the role, but everything short of that is. More junior PM work is handled by junior mechanics.
IS THIS YOU?
This is an experienced shop role. It's a fit if you can say yes to most of these: ✓ 3+ years hands-on as a heavy-duty truck mechanic ✓ You diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and driveline issues — and get it right the first time ✓ You can work independently and make sound repair calls ✓ You can read service manuals and schematics ✓ You own a comprehensive hand tool set up to 1/2" drive ✓ You hold a PA Class B CDL, or you can get one (nearly required) Earlier in your career? We also run a lube and helper track that builds into senior roles like this — ask about it.
WHY WORK HERE
Steady, year-round shop work — no seasonal layoffs Modern fleet of mostly Peterbilt tri-axles (2014 and newer) Senior mechanics focus on diagnostics and powertrain — you're not thrown in blind In-house maintenance operation — no customer pressure Privately owned — decisions get made quickly Uniforms, coveralls, and jackets provided at no cost In short — this is a professional shop where good mechanics are trusted to do their work.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Heavy-Duty Truck Shop Mechanic diagnoses, repairs, and maintains Carbon Direct's on-road truck fleet — mostly tri-axle trucks, with occasional work on service trucks, on-road water trucks, and mobile drill chassis. The role covers powertrain, brakes, suspension, steering, electrical, hydraulics, and DOT compliance — everything short of engine overhauls.
FLEET & EQUIPMENT
Approximately 25 tri-axle trucks, mostly Peterbilt (2014 and newer) 6-10 service trucks (occasional work) On-road water trucks (seasonal) Mobile drills (truck engines and chassis worked on as needed)
A TYPICAL DAY

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
Here's what good looks like to us — and what we promote on: You fix it right the first time — minimal comebacks and rework You keep getting better and look for ways to improve how the shop runs You show up on time, every day You fit the shop — you pull your weight and people work well with you You get your assigned trucks back in service each day You plan ahead and set yourself up for the next day before you leave
