(MEI) is hiring Locomotive Mechanics to support customers throughout the Lancaster / York, Pennsylvania region . Locomotive experience is preferred, but it is not required. If you have strong mechanical experience working on diesel engines, heavy equipment, trucks, agricultural equipment, construction equipment, or industrial machinery , we encourage you to apply. WHAT YOU'LL DO
As a Locomotive Mechanic, you'll perform hands-on inspection, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of diesel locomotives and their mechanical systems.Responsibilities include:
Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain locomotives. Repair and rebuild mechanical components including fuel pumps, water pumps, control valves, governors, distributors, and related equipment. Perform diesel engine inspections, maintenance, and repairs. Time injectors and valves, set racks, and verify pointers. Inspect turbos, idler backlash, AR-10 bearings, and related components. Torque engine and locomotive components to required specifications. Remove, repair, and replace defective mechanical components. Use hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, grinders, and precision measuring instruments. Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, truck cranes, and cutting equipment. Perform locomotive cab repairs, including flooring, seats, liners, and related components. Read and follow technical manuals, schematics, specifications, drawings, and OEM maintenance procedures. Perform all work safely and in accordance with company, customer, environmental, and railroad requirements.WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Diesel mechanical knowledge preferred. Locomotive experience is a plus, but not required for mechanically experienced candidates willing to learn . Experience with hand, power, and pneumatic tools. Ability to read gauges and precision measuring instruments. Ability to understand technical manuals, specifications, schematics, and drawings. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Ability to safely work around heavy machinery and mobile equipment. High school diploma or GED preferred. Ability and willingness to work overtime when needed. Ability and willingness to travel to customer locations.TRAVEL & SCHEDULE
This position supports customer locations throughout the Lancaster / York, PA region and the Northeast . Travel is required.When traveling for work:

This is a hands-on, physically demanding mechanical position. Candidates must be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.Work may include:
Standing and walking for extended periods. Bending, kneeling, crouching, squatting, climbing, and reaching. Climbing locomotive steps, stairs, and ladders. Working on elevated and uneven surfaces. Working above shoulder and below waist level. Crawling and working in tight or confined spaces. Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling heavy parts and equipment. Working outdoors in hot, cold, and changing weather conditions. Working around loud noise, dust, fumes, and heavy machinery.
