Job Title:
Diesel Mechanic Job Description We are seeking a skilled diesel mechanic to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair heavy equipment such as excavators, dozers, skid steers, loaders, and a fleet of trucks. The role involves performing routine maintenance, inspecting equipment for wear and safety concerns, and repairing hydraulic systems, engines, electrical systems, and undercarriages. You will perform both shop and field repairs and maintain accurate service and repair records, ensuring all work meets company safety standards and OSHA regulations. Responsibilities Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with heavy equipment. Perform routine maintenance, including oil changes, fluid checks, and greasing. Inspect equipment for wear, damage, and safety concerns. Complete preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtime. Repair hydraulic systems, engines, electrical systems, and undercarriages. Perform both shop and field repairs as needed. Maintain accurate service and repair records. Ensure all work meets company safety standards and OSHA regulations. Coordinate with operators and supervisors to prioritize repairs. Assist with equipment setup and mobilization to job sites. Essential Skills Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems. Experience with brands such as CAT, Deere, Komatsu, or similar preferred. Experience with Ford & Toyota heavy trucks. Valid CDL Class B license. Ability to diagnose issues quickly and work independently. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with construction equipment maintenance and repair. Familiarity with troubleshooting and preventive maintenance techniques. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Greer, SC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $42.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
