Job Description:
A Diesel Mechanic is responsible for performing maintenance, repairs, and diagnostics on a variety of heavy machinery used in construction and other industrial sectors. The role requires a deep understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulics, electrical systems, and engine components. Heavy Equipment Mechanics ensure equipment is running efficiently, safely, and in compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance & Repairs:
Perform routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, filter replacements, and inspections. Repair and replace faulty components such as engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and electrical wiring. Diagnose mechanical issues using diagnostic tools and equipment. Perform repairs on-site or in a workshop environment. Record maintenance and repair activities, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Install new parts and accessories to improve machinery performance. At least 3-5 years of hands-on experience working with heavy machinery.
Certifications:
Valid driver's license. Certification in heavy equipment maintenance (e.g., ASE or equivalent) preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift heavy tools and equipment (up to 75 lbs). Stamina to work in challenging environments, including extreme weather conditions. Comfort working in tight spaces or at heights when repairing large equipment.
Working Conditions:
Work may take place on job sites, in outdoor environments, or in a workshop. Hours may vary, or overtime work may be required, depending on the urgency of repairs.
