Night Shift | 8:00 PM - 6:00 AM Position Summary Grade A Construction is seeking an experienced Night Shift Diesel Mechanic to join our maintenance team. This position is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining our fleet of dump trucks and semi-trucks to ensure safe and reliable operation. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, experienced in heavy-duty diesel repair, and comfortable working independently alongside one other mechanic during the overnight shift. In addition to shop repairs, this position will respond to roadside service calls as needed to minimize equipment downtime and keep operations moving. Essential Responsibilities Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on dump trucks and semi-trucks. Diagnose and repair diesel engines and related mechanical systems. Perform brake repairs and wheel end service. Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems. Diagnose and repair electrical systems. Complete DOT inspections and identify needed repairs to maintain compliance. Respond to roadside service calls for equipment breakdowns as needed. Accurately document repairs, inspections, and maintenance performed. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Work collaboratively with the night shift mechanic to prioritize repairs and support fleet availability. Qualifications Previous experience as a diesel mechanic working on heavy-duty trucks, including dump trucks and semi-trucks. Strong knowledge of diesel engines, braking systems, hydraulics, electrical systems, and wheel end repairs. Experience performing engine diagnostics and troubleshooting. Ability to perform DOT inspections. Valid driver's license required (CDL is a plus but not required). Welding experience is preferred but not required. Ability to work independently, solve problems, and respond effectively to after-hours service calls. Preferred Skills Welding and fabrication experience. Experience using diagnostic software and scan tools. Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills. Ability to prioritize multiple repair needs in a fast-paced environment. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 75 pounds. Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb, and work in various weather conditions. Ability to safely operate shop equipment and tools.

Pay:

$27.00 - $30.00 per hour
