You'll work on a variety of equipment, perform advanced diagnostics and repairs, mentor junior technicians, and play an important role in keeping a large fleet operating safely and efficiently. What You'll Be Doing Advanced Diagnostics & Troubleshooting:
Perform failure analysis and report findings to maintenance leadership. Use pressure gauges to diagnose hydraulic systems, including pressure and vacuum testing. Utilize proprietary engine diagnostic software to identify failed components and troubleshoot performance concerns, check engine lights, and loss-of-power issues. Diagnose hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems. Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement efforts.
Major Component Repairs:
Replace and repair advanced components including: Turbochargers EGR components Fuel filter housings Fuel injection pumps Differentials Transmissions Air compressors Other major engine and drivetrain components Assist with increasingly technical repairs including: Injector replacement Injector cups Camshaft replacement Internal transmission repairs Complete repairs accurately and efficiently with minimal comebacks.
Preventative Maintenance & Inspections:
Perform preventative maintenance services and technical inspections. Complete follow-up repairs identified during inspections. Maintain detailed repair documentation, labor tracking, and parts usage records. Requisition parts and materials as needed.
Team Support & Leadership:
Assist in training and mentoring Technician I and Technician II team members. Audit repair quality and maintenance procedures when needed. Support service calls and road call operations. Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work area.
Safety First:
Wear required PPE. Follow all company safety procedures and federal regulations. Identify and report unsafe conditions immediately. Help maintain a culture focused on safety and accountability. Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of diesel mechanic or heavy equipment maintenance experience.
Strong troubleshooting skills involving:
Diesel engines Hydraulics Electrical systems Pneumatic systems Mechanical systems Ability to explain repair procedures and diagnostic findings. Strong communication and organizational skills. Basic computer proficiency for documentation and repair tracking. Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced shop environment. Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED. Texas Class B CDL. Safe driving record for the past five years. Experience with heavy-duty trucks, vocational fleets, refuse equipment, transit fleets, or heavy equipment. Required Licenses & Certifications
- Valid Class C Driver's License. Safe driving record for the past three years. Plus completion of three (3) or more of the following: DOT Inspector License ASE Certifications (T1-T8) Mack Online Training Path
- Technician Level A Meritor Bullpen & Stemco Curriculum Allison Certification McNeilus Certification Cummins Certification Mack Certification Paccar Certification Additional certifications are highly valued and may positively impact compensation.
Compensation Up to $30/hour depending on experience, certifications, and shift. Weekly pay. 40-55 hours per week. Overtime paid at time-and-a-half.
