Jod description Diesel technician responsible for performing basic preventive maintenance, inspections, and minor repairs on tractors and trailers. Works under the direction of senior (Type A) mechanics and the shop supervisor to help ensure SILT Transportation fleet remains safe, reliable and complains with DOT requirements.

Essential Duties and Resposabilities:

Perform routine preventive maintenance (pm) services on diesel tractors and trailers. Perform oil filter, fuel filter and air filter changes. Inspect and maintain fluid levels, including engine oil, coolant, transmission, power steering and differtial fluids. Inspect tires for wear, damage, proper inflation and thread depth. Perform basic tire repairs and replacement when needed. Inspect brakes, break chambers, airlines, hoses. Replace basic components such as lights, bulbs, wiper blades, batteries, belts, hoses, and mud flaps. Basic electrical troubleshooting. Assist senior mechanics. Inspect basic trailer repairs, including lights, air lines, doors, and minor hardware repairs. Complete repair orders accurately, including parts used, work performed, and technician time. Maintain tools, equipment, and assigned work areas in clean and safe conditions. Perform road service or yard repairs when assigned.
