Full-Time Job Summary We are seeking a dependable and experienced Road Service Diesel Mechanic to provide maintenance, repairs, and emergency roadside assistance for our fleet of semi-trucks and trailers. The mechanic will be responsible for diagnosing mechanical problems, completing repairs efficiently, performing preventive maintenance, and responding to breakdowns to minimize truck downtime and keep our fleet operating safely. Responsibilities Respond to roadside service calls for company trucks and trailers. Diagnose mechanical, electrical, air, and brake system problems. Perform repairs on diesel trucks, tractors, and trailers. Troubleshoot trucks that will not start or have mechanical failures. Repair and replace brakes, air lines, hoses, belts, batteries, lights, and other components. Diagnose and repair air leaks. Perform basic electrical troubleshooting. Assist with tire-related issues when necessary. Perform preventive maintenance and routine inspections. Conduct oil, filter, fluid, and other scheduled maintenance services. Inspect trucks and trailers for potential safety or mechanical problems. Prepare trucks for DOT inspections and correct identified mechanical deficiencies. Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts used, and services performed. Keep service truck, tools, equipment, and work areas organized. Maintain an inventory of commonly needed parts and supplies. Communicate with dispatch and management regarding truck status, repairs, and estimated completion times. Identify when a repair can be completed roadside versus when the truck needs to be taken to a repair facility. Help minimize downtime and unnecessary outside road-service expenses. Follow company safety procedures at all times. Qualifications Previous diesel mechanic or heavy-duty truck repair experience preferred. Knowledge of semi-trucks, diesel engines, trailers, air brake systems, and electrical systems. Ability to diagnose mechanical problems independently. Experience with DOT inspections and preventive maintenance preferred. Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record. Must be comfortable performing roadside repairs. Ability to lift heavy parts, use mechanic tools, and work outdoors. Must be dependable, organized, and able to respond quickly to mechanical issues. Must be able to communicate effectively with drivers, dispatchers, and management.
