We are seeking a skilled and reliable Mechanic to join our team. Under the direct supervision of the supervisor, the mechanic shall be able to diagnose, repair, and maintain vehicles, heavy equipment, garbage trucks, tractors, mowers, and small tools including trimmers, chainsaws, etc. either owned by the company or owned by a customer.

Key Responsibilities:

• Examine vehicles and equipment with personnel to review and gain knowledge of the extent of damage or malfunction.
• Plan work procedures for any repairs.
• Provide a list of required materials, fluids, or parts to the Supervisor for purchasing and ordering.
• Remove damaged parts/equipment and cleans and preps vehicle/equipment for required repairs.
• Receives materials, fluids, or parts, ensures they are the required items, and completes the installation/repairs.
• Perform routine maintenance and inspections on vehicles and machinery.
• Diagnose mechanical issues and perform repairs on engines, transmissions, brakes, A/C systems, hydraulic systems, and other systems.
• Capable of using diagnostic tools and equipment to identify problems accurately.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs and services performed.
• Basic welding or fabrications skills.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and requirements.
• Collaborate with team members to maintain efficient workflow.
• Perform preventive maintenance to vehicles and equipment.
• Service vehicles and equipment as needed at the shop or at off-site locations.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment. Performs housekeeping duties.
• Stays current on new technology.
• Must furnish own hand tools.
• Must be willing to stay overtime on urgent repairs.
• Performs related work as required.

Requirements:

Basic Knowledge:

1. Ability to read and understand.

• Service, repair, and parts manuals.
• Mechanical diagrams.
• Electrical diagrams.
• Safety and hazardous materials communications.

2. Intermediate math and computer skills required. 3. Intermediate problem-solving skills.

Education:

1. High school diploma or GED is required. 2. Associate's degree in automotive technology is preferred but not required.

Licenses:

1. Valid Texas Driver's License Class C is required. 2. Texas Commercial Driver's License Class A or B (optional but a plus). 3. ASE certifications or equivalent (optional but a plus).

Experience:

1. Minimum Two-year experience of automotive, diesel, and heavy equipment maintenance/repair.

Physical Effort:

1. The job involves considerable physical exertion, such as regular climbing of ladders, lifting heavy objects (up to 80 pounds) on a frequent basis and/or assuming awkward positions for long periods of time.

Work Environment :

1. There are routine exposures to significant levels of heat, cold, moisture, air pollution, chemical gases, and substances. 2. The job may involve periodic exposure to physical trauma of a minor nature such as cuts, bruises, and minor burns.

Physical Skills:

1. Requires the ability to make closely coordinated eye/hand movements within very fine tolerance and/or calibration demands, etc.
