Lead, supervise, and support diesel technicians and shop personnel. Diagnose complex diesel engine, electrical, fuel, cooling, air, brake, and drivetrain problems. Perform and oversee repairs on commercial trucks and diesel equipment. Assign and prioritize work based on customer needs, technician skill level, parts availability, and deadlines. Review technician diagnoses and repair recommendations before major repairs are performed. Inspect completed repairs and help ensure work is completed correctly the first time. Troubleshoot difficult jobs and assist technicians when additional technical expertise is needed. Monitor repair progress and communicate delays, additional repairs, or parts needs to the office. Maintain organized and accurate repair documentation. Help technicians properly document labor performed, parts used, diagnostic findings, and recommended repairs. Train and mentor less-experienced technicians. Maintain productivity and accountability among shop employees. Help establish efficient shop procedures and repair standards. Maintain a clean, organized, professional, and safe working environment. Ensure tools, equipment, lifts, diagnostic equipment, and shop resources are properly used and maintained. Help reduce unnecessary rework, comebacks, wasted labor, and parts errors. Work closely with ownership and office management regarding workflow, staffing, customer concerns, parts, scheduling, and shop operations. Assist with interviewing and evaluating technicians when needed. Set the standard for professionalism, workmanship, attendance, and accountability within the shop.
