Technician II 2nd Shift (Night shift ) 3PM - 1AM 3rd Shift (Night shift) 6PM - 4AM Job Summary Our client is seeking a Technician II to support the maintenance and repair of fleet assets and equipment. This role is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical issues, completing repairs, and assisting with more advanced maintenance activities. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical aptitude, a commitment to safety, and experience working on heavy-duty vehicles and equipment. Key Responsibilities Perform preventative maintenance according to established schedules and standard repair time guidelines. Conduct vehicle inspections to identify faults, determine out-of-service criteria, and complete necessary repairs in a timely manner. Communicate parts and material needs to leadership to ensure timely procurement and repairs. Assist with diagnostic procedures involving hydraulic systems, electrical systems, engines, and transmissions using gauges and computer diagnostic software. Replace failed components including, but not limited to, brakes, sensors, starters, alternators, and hydraulic cylinders. Support more advanced repairs involving turbos, EGR components, fuel filter housings, oil thermostats and housings, air compressors, differentials, and related systems. Maintain accurate repair documentation, including work performed, parts used, fluids utilized, and labor hours. Participate in periodic quality and maintenance audits. Assist in training entry-level technicians and supporting preventative maintenance inspection programs as needed. Maintain service truck readiness, including tools, safety equipment, inventory, and overall cleanliness. Complete monthly inventory counts and maintain an organized work area. Attend ongoing training and professional development opportunities. Follow all safety policies, procedures, and applicable state and federal regulations. Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and report any unsafe conditions immediately. May be required to operate vehicles with a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of up to 26,000 pounds. Perform additional duties as assigned. What We're Looking For At least one year of preventative maintenance experience on Class 8 vehicles, OR A technical degree with demonstrated maintenance knowledge, OR A DOT Inspector License (49 CFR Part 396.19) Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Experience with diesel, hydraulic, electrical, and diagnostic systems preferred. Must possess personal hand tools required for the position. Minimum Qualifications Minimum of one year of verifiable preventative maintenance experience or equivalent technical training. Familiarity with shop equipment, maintenance practices, and workplace safety procedures. Basic automotive and mechanical knowledge. Basic understanding of oil sampling practices and preventative maintenance concepts. Ability to read and interpret safety labels, warnings, and maintenance documentation. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe work practices. Effective verbal and written communication skills in English. Ability to learn and utilize computer systems for documenting repairs, tracking work orders, and monitoring repair status. Ability to follow instructions, collaborate with team members, and work independently when needed. Preferred Qualifications High school diploma or GED equivalent. Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL). Formal training in preventative maintenance operations. Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification or the ability to obtain certification. Safe driving history over the past five years. Licenses & Certifications Valid Class C Driver's License. Safe driving record for the past three years. Current State Inspector License, or the ability to obtain one within 90 days of employment. #BWC2
