Spherion Staffing and Recruiting is currently seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic Technician to join a dedicated fleet maintenance team in Temple, Texas. In this role, you will perform high-level diagnostic assessments, routine preventative maintenance, and complex mechanical repairs on medium- to heavy-duty trucks, trailers, refrigeration units, converter dollies, and maintenance vehicles. You will work under minimal supervision to keep essential fleet equipment operating safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with state and federal transportation regulations.

Responsibilities:

Perform complete preventative maintenance inspections, routine services, and complex system repairs on fleet diesel equipment. Diagnose root causes of mechanical or electrical failures and execute precision repairs. Inspect, service, and replace critical safety components, including brake systems, steering mechanisms, and wheel bearings. Troubleshoot, install, and repair onboard computerized systems and electronic diagnostics. Conduct specialized service and repair on mobile refrigeration units.

Maintain accurate digital documentation for all completed work orders and replacement parts using the Enterprise Asset Management software. Provide road-call assistance and emergency field support when required. Ensure all serviced vehicles hold valid licenses and registrations before releasing them as roadworthy. Mentor and train junior technicians to maintain team standards.

AM Skills:

Associate Degree or two-year technical certificate in Diesel Technology or a related field. Seven to ten years of hands-on heavy-duty vehicle repair experience. Valid professional certifications such as Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Heavy-Duty, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Universal Refrigeration, Department of Transportation (DOT) Inspection, or specialized brake/AC certifications.

High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience. Five or more years of proven experience servicing medium- to heavy-duty commercial vehicles. Demonstrated experience with preventative maintenance, tire and wheel systems, air/disc brakes, and advanced computerized diagnostics. At least two years of specialized experience in air conditioning and refrigeration unit repairs.
