Overview Join our dynamic team as a Diesel Heavy Equipment Mechanic and become a vital part of maintaining and repairing a wide range of heavy machinery used in construction, agriculture, and industrial sectors. In this energetic role, you will diagnose, troubleshoot, and service diesel-powered equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety. Duties Perform comprehensive diagnostics on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, electrical systems, and air brake components using OEM schematics and advanced diagnostic tools. Conduct repairs and maintenance on construction machinery such as excavators, cranes, loaders, forklifts, and other heavy equipment to ensure reliable operation. Fabricate parts or modify existing components using welding, hand tools, power tools, and fabrication techniques to meet specific operational needs. Service and repair farm machinery, industrial equipment, tractor-trailers, and other heavy-duty vehicles with attention to detail and safety standards. Troubleshoot equipment issues through electrical diagnostics, automotive diagnostics, schematics interpretation, and mechanical knowledge to identify root causes quickly. Perform tire service, brake repairs, suspension adjustments, alignment checks, HVAC system servicing, and general assembly or disassembly of equipment components. Maintain detailed service records, complete shift reports, incident logs, and ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations. Requirements Proven experience working as a heavy equipment mechanic in a dealership or industrial setting with a strong background in diesel engine repair and maintenance. Extensive knowledge of construction machinery maintenance including excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, and other heavy equipment. Proficiency in electrical diagnostics, schematics reading, hydraulic systems troubleshooting, welding (including soldering), and fabrication techniques. Ability to operate heavy equipment safely for testing purposes or during repairs; familiarity with heavy equipment operation is preferred. Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, diagnostic software for automotive/equipment systems; experience with OEM parts is highly desirable. Strong mechanical knowledge covering transmissions, air brakes systems, suspension components, HVAC systems, tires/tire service and alignment procedures. Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex electrical or mechanical issues efficiently. Valid certifications related to diesel mechanics or heavy equipment servicing are preferred; dealership experience is a plus. $27.70 - $33.30 per hour
