Accurate Marine Environmental LLC (AME) is seeking an experienced Mechanic to join our team in support of critical fleet and equipment operations throughout the Hampton Roads ship repair industry. The Mechanic is responsible for the inspection, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of AME's fleet vehicles, trailers, pumps, generators, and operational equipment supporting gas-free operations, pumping and defueling, chemical cleaning, wastewater services, and emergency response. This is a hands-on position that plays an important role in keeping our equipment safe, reliable, and ready to support U.S. Navy and commercial vessel customers. What You'll Do Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on: Tractor trailers, tanker trailers, and vacuum trucks Pick-up trucks and light-duty vehicles Trailers, pumps, generators, and support equipment Marine and industrial equipment Diagnose and repair diesel, hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and braking systems . Perform required service intervals and maintain accurate maintenance and inspection records. Ensure vehicles and equipment remain safe and compliant with applicable DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and Virginia requirements . Maintain fleet and equipment readiness to support daily operations and emergency response. Assist operations and production teams with equipment staging, installation, troubleshooting, and field support. Respond to urgent maintenance needs and equipment breakdowns to minimize operational downtime. Assist with parts and inventory management and coordinate with vendors as needed. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Participate in safety meetings, training, and required certifications. Follow all company safety, environmental, shipyard, and military base access requirements.

What We're Looking For Required Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED. Minimum 5 years of mechanic experience working with heavy-duty vehicles, industrial equipment, or regulated fleets. Experience servicing DOT-regulated vehicles . Strong working knowledge of diesel engines, braking systems, hydraulics, electrical systems, and preventive maintenance. Ability to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and technical documentation. Valid REAL ID-compliant driver's license. Acceptable driving record and ability to pass AME's company driving record check. Ability to obtain and maintain required site-access credentials, including DBIDS and TWIC. Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work independently with limited supervision.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with vacuum trucks, tanker trailers, or marine pumping equipment. Welding and fabrication experience. OSHA safety training or other relevant technical certifications. Experience working in a shipyard, industrial, or other safety-sensitive environment. The position requires the ability to: Stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work around vehicles and industrial equipment. Lift and carry up to 50 pounds . Work around noise, machinery, oils, fuels, and industrial materials. Work flexible hours when necessary to support operational and emergency response requirements.
