Diesel Mechanic

    Tuition reimbursement Schedule 8 am to 5 pm and on call hours General Purpose Perform the majority of truck and/or trailer maintenance and repairs, ensuring that equipment is available and in optimal operating condition, while working under minimal supervision.

Work with the assistance of other mechanics or supervisors when performing highly technical or intricate diagnostic repairs. Job Responsibilities Responds to maintenance requests from drivers, safety coordinator, DOT coordinator, lead mechanic, transportation supervisor, and fleet manager.

Maintains and repairs trucks and trailers to be in proper operating condition according to DOT specifications.

Conducts periodic inspections, diagnoses problems, and eliminating unsafe operating conditions.

Performs annual vehicle inspection and admissions tests in compliance with state regulations.

Operates arc and mig weld equipment.

Other duties as assigned

This is a full-time position

Education and Experience:

High School diploma or equivalent preferred

At least two years' experience as a diesel Class 8 vehicle mechanic

Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Must be able to read and understand driver inspection reports

Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

Must be able to provide and use personal hand tools appropriate for working on heavy equipment

Must have knowledge and understanding of DOT regulations

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
