Waste Connections is seeking a Journeyman Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair our refuse and fleet vehicles in the Transportation & Logistics industry. In this Skilled Labor role, you'll diagnose and repair diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical, and brake systems, perform preventive maintenance, and complete DOT and safety inspections. Responsibilities Diagnose and repair diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical, and brake systems on refuse and fleet vehicles Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and DOT inspections to ensure safe, reliable operation Troubleshoot breakdowns, complete accurate work orders, and maintain repair documentation Follow all safety procedures and environmental regulations in a busy on-site shop environment Collaborate with drivers and operations to prioritize repairs and minimize downtime Required Skills Diesel engine diagnostics and repair Hydraulic and pneumatic systems repair Electrical troubleshooting (12/24 V) Preventive maintenance on heavy trucks Brake and suspension systems Welding and basic fabrication Use of diagnostic software and scan tools Reading technical manuals and schematics DOT and safety inspections Shop safety and OSHA compliance
