POSITION SUMMARY
Complete general repairs and preventative maintenance on vehicles and flatbed trailers. Hours are Monday - Friday, 6:00 am - 4:30 pm. Technical Skills Ability to operate cranes and forklifts Change and repair tires, brakes, and oil changes on all vehicles Basic knowledge and ability to repair vehicles and trailers in a timely manner Keeps preventive maintenance and vehicle inspection records up to date Understands and follows compliance with OSHA regulations and DOT requirements Advanced knowledge of all non-diesel vehicle repairs Advanced knowledge of forklift repairs Able to build and maintain specialty trailers Obtains quotes for parts and orders parts Good knowledge of hydraulics/fluid power Good cleaning /housekeeping in general work area Proficient in basic repair welding for vehicles and trailers Quality and Safety Skills Operates all required vehicle repair equipment in a safe manner Use overhead crane according to all safety requirements Use required personal protection equipment (PPE) at all times Completes all required quality information for work performed Quality of vehicle maintenance work is of an acceptable level People Skills Receives instruction well Maintains a consistent positive attitude Friendly and cooperative with fellow employees and supervision Reliable attendance Uses good judgement with job assignments and interpersonal skills Obtains quotes for parts and orders parts Assists in the training of less experienced vehicle mechanics We at Merrill Steel have been working hard to make sure that our company is a place you want to come to work at each day. We even have a Production HR Facilitator whose office is located out in the shop to easily assist employees.
