Stable, supportive metals recycling shop environment Duties of the heavy diesel mechanic:
Service, repair, and conduct advanced diagnostics on diesel powertrains, fuel delivery systems, cooling networks, and exhaust assemblies
Overhaul and rebuild hydraulic components, including high-pressure hoses, cylinders, directional valves, and hydraulic pumps
Resolve complex electrical issues by testing starters, wiring harnesses, alternators, lighting, and electronic modules on heavy trucks
Perform comprehensive brake checks, steering and suspension overhauls, and routine fleet safety evaluations
Cut, fit, and weld structural metal components to custom-fabricate guards, brackets, and frame repairs on heavy machinery
Document service histories, keep detailed repair logs, actively reduce vehicle downtime, and enforce shop safety standards Requirements of the heavy diesel mechanic:
Experience as a heavy diesel mechanic, diesel technician, or heavy equipment mechanic
Strong practical background in diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical diagnostics, and heavy trailers
Demonstrated welding and metal fabrication experience
