Job Description

Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Experienced Diesel Engine Diagnostic Mechanic to join our dynamic maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy duty diesel equipment (semis, heavy-duty trucks such as boom trucks, dump trucks), medium duty diesels and box trucks, ensuring optimal performance and safety. Your expertise will help keep our customer's fleet operational, minimize downtime, and support our commitment to excellence in equipment servicing. This position offers an exciting opportunity for mechanics passionate about heavy equipment, diesel engines (such as Detroit, Cummins and Paccar), and advanced diagnostics to showcase their skills in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive diagnostics and testing on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, air brake systems, electrical systems, and other critical components using OEM schematics and specialized diagnostic tools. Conduct repairs and maintenance on construction vehicles, semis, heavy duty commercial vehicles, medium duty commercial vehicles, etc. Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering techniques, and fabrication skills to repair or modify equipment as needed. Troubleshoot complex mechanical issues related to suspension systems, alignments, HVAC systems on heavy machinery, electrical diagnostics, and equipment troubleshooting. Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure safety standards are met and equipment operates efficiently. Assist in assembling new machinery or components following technical schematics and OEM specifications. Maintain detailed service records and descriptive notes of repairs performed and parts used on every work order; communicate effectively with team members to ensure timely completion of tasks. Qualifications Proven experience working as a diesel mechanic with dealership or heavy equipment service background, 15 years at the minimum is required. Strong knowledge of diesel engine diagnostics, repair procedures, and heavy equipment maintenance practices. Familiarity with fabrication techniques including welding and soldering; capable of performing heavy lifting safely. 15 years experience servicing heavy duty commercial vehicles is required. Proficiency in electrical diagnostics for automotive and industrial systems; ability to read schematics accurately. Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, diagnostic software, and service manuals. Ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues efficiently; excellent problem-solving skills. Valid certifications related to heavy equipment operation or maintenance are preferred; OEM certification is a plus but not required. Strong customer service orientation with the ability to communicate technical information clearly.
